I’m in Amelia. Amelia is one of the most popular women’s magazines here in Sweden.
They devoted an issue to budget ideas for under 500 kronor (about USD 70) and asked me and three fellow bloggers , Trendenser, Husligheter and Room by Sofie, what our tricks are to update a home on a shoe string.
Here’s somewhat of a translation of my answers:
1) Invest in a good base. I like to stick to one base color, white, for everything and then add colored accents which I can easily switch out according to season or mood. With white I can also easily add to my dishes, towels etc and they will always feel like cohesive sets even if they’re not.
2) Shop for home décor in unexpected places such as the DIY store.
3) Paint or wallpaper. A pot of paint or a couple of rolls of wallpaper can make a huge difference to a room.
My favorite budget find: A set of nesting tables from a charity shop which I revamped by repainting the bases and varnishing the tops.
Thanks Amelia for having me!
